After the five dimensions sum, two modifiers correct for patterns per-dimension scoring cannot capture: gaming behaviour (the only false-positive risk) and legacy institutions whose authority is not yet reflected in modern review or AI signals.
Gaming Flag
−20 points
Triggers when at least one of the following is true:
- Cross-platform rating divergence ≥ 1.0★
- Sustained ≥ 60 reviews/month with avg rating ≥ 4.8★ and shallow content (< 5 pages)
Legacy Institution Boost
+15 points
Applies to businesses with 40+ years of operation AND demonstrable cultural authority (Wikipedia entry OR ≥2 substantive press mentions). Corrects for the under-scoring of trusted institutions whose authority predates online review platforms.
